FEAR Frequently Asked Questions
What sets FEAR apart from other Escape Rooms
A- We combine the timed element of escape rooms with an extra special sauce of scary threats, somewhat psychologically disturbing tasks, and FEAR-inducing special effects. Our goal is to go beyond your expectations using all the special ingredients of a high-quality show system.
Why are you doing FEAR? What’s your motivation?
A- Steven Spielberg once said that the reason he creates movies is that he enjoys the tremendous responsibility he has with the audience’s time and emotions—that he wants to have them feel multiple emotions, in just a short period of time. And this is only with a single artistic medium. With FEAR, we have multiple mediums to make people feel these emotions, gripped by a story, transported into a whole new reality, with a live-or-die type gaming element.
As the creator, I have loved haunted houses my entire life. When escape rooms came along, I experienced many of them, and while I felt it was fun, I always felt like I wanted more. More immersion, more emotion than just a game. My goal is to create an experience that goes beyond your typical escape room and haunted house by immersing guests into a live, psychologically thrilling environment with added game play. This experience is designed to appeal to all audiences. There’s something for everyone.
The narrative of FEAR is designed to scale and change: repeat customers won’t have the exact same experience, and the overall concept is scalable to bring to the international stage.
How are we addressing COVID concerns?
A- Our opening date target is 2022, so hopefully Covid will not be an issue at that time. However, we are designing the experience to be altered should another pandemic hit, and comply with what we expect to be government safety guidelines, such as:
- masks at all times
- No more than 6 in a group
- Critical cleaning between groups
- Minimize the amount of groups per day
- No contact between guests and actors or actors behind glass or eliminated entirely (A zombie wearing PPE is just not gonna work!)
How do you know this concept will succeed?
A- There have been many studies that have concluded that people, more and more, value spending money on experiences that are unique, and competitive experiences are one of the fastest growing industries. People want to challenge themselves. Mud Runs™ explosive growth proves people want to test themselves. Gamification is the way of the future! When the word gets out about FEAR, we hope people will see the unique entertainment value and concept and be intrigued to see what all the buzz is about!
How scary is it?
A- It’s progressively scary … so the guest will be the judge of that—how much can they endure to complete the full experience?
Guests are always in control and can quit at any time by pressing the panic button. A light illuminating the exit will be immediately visible.
Is there an age limit?
A- Yes. This experience is recommended for adults only 18 and older. Minors over 14 can come when accompanied by their parents but are not allowed past level 8. People with heart conditions, medical concerns or pregnant are only allowed with a doctor’s release. All guests must sign a liability waiver.
How much are tickets
A- All bookings are private
2 people $50 per ticket $100 total
3 people $45 per ticket $135
4 people $40 per ticket $160
5 people $35 per ticket $175
6 people $30 per ticket $180
What’s your estimated throughput on a design day?
A- 480 people: 10 hours a day 4 groups of ideally 12 per hour
How long is the experience?
A- Generally, from start to finish it takes between 1 hour to 2 hours. However, that is totally up to each participant. Everyone has a different FEAR tolerance or threshold; therefore some might tap out after 20 minutes, while others might persevere to the end. A different amount of time to “escape” is given per room, and a game master is always watching, and judging … the game master can control some elements of the experience to make it more difficult, or assist the guests.
Will I be locked in a room?
A- No. For fire safety reasons no one will ever be “locked in” a room, you will always be able to exit behind you, and monitored via CCTV. However, in order to advance you must fulfill the rooms requirements. Some of the requirements are games and puzzles others are mental challenges with right and wrong answers.
Can I play if I’m in a wheelchair?
A- Yes. There are a few elements that may not be accessible, but that does not prevent to guest to enjoy and participate in the majority of the experience.
What do I get if I am one of the few that actually finish?
A- A coveted tee-shirt that say “I conquered FEAR” and your name on the wall of fame!
Can I pay cash when I arrive?
A- No. You must register online and pay with a credit card or Paypal.
Will the experience be the same every time?
A- No—the rooms are constantly being updated with different game play. Also, if guests don’t complete the game, they are welcome to come back and try to complete the experience—however, they must start over from the beginning, and the game will be slightly different.
Can we drink cocktails or beer?
A- No. We have a zero alcohol and drug policy. We know that’s a big ask in Vegas but we have enough excitement without the need for drugs and alcohol.
Can I get a refund?
A- Generally, there are no refunds. Should there be a situation causing the experience to be inoperable, we will offer a refund or reschedule with a credit for a different day, depending on the circumstances.
What is your vision and how do you plan to grow the business?
A- The plan is to open the flagship location in Las Vegas in 2022 near the strip. Once we realize our sales goal in Vegas, our goal is to scale into 2 to 3 locations in California (LA, SD, SF) within the next 2 years. After that with a proven concept, we would like to expand into all major metropolitan cities in the US & Canada as quickly as possible. What makes this possible is the ease in replicating the floor plan and buildout.
Why Vegas?
It’s the adult location based entertainment capital of the world
How many rooms are there?
A- It’s a secret…. Let’s just say most people will not finish. We want them to come back and see if they can make it farther.
